Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has lived at the iconic Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, since 1974 — over 52 years — may be on the verge of moving to a new home. The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) approved a proposal on June 16 for the construction of a new six-storey residential building in the same neighbourhood, fuelling speculation that the Khan family could be relocating.

According to reports, the new building will be constructed on a plot registered in the name of Salman’s mother, Salma Khan, in Mumbai’s Chimbai area, close to Galaxy Apartments. The project is being developed by Sach Developers, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) having issued an Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) back in October 2025 — a preliminary clearance — before the MCZMA granted its approval in June.

The approved building will include a ground floor, stilt parking, and six upper floors, with a total built-up area of approximately 1,014 square metres. Environmental conditions attached to the approval stipulate that no existing trees may be cut, and new local species must be planted around the property.

The move has been linked to heightened security concerns following threats allegedly made by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In 2024, shots were reportedly fired outside Galaxy Apartments, after which security around the residence was significantly tightened. Salman Khan currently has Y+ security cover, and reports suggest the new seaside residence could offer enhanced privacy and safety compared to the older apartment building.

However, there has been no official confirmation from Salman Khan or his family regarding the move.

The Khan family has been associated with Galaxy Apartments since 1974, when screenwriter Salim Khan moved into the building with his family. Salman has continued to reside there for decades, making it one of the most recognisable celebrity addresses in Mumbai.

Salman Khan has completed filming for Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace and is currently working on his upcoming action entertainer SVC63, co-starring Nayanthara. The Vamshi Paidipally-directed film is confirmed for an Eid 2027 theatrical release. The project is produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations, along with Shirish, Kuldeep Rathore, and co-producer Rafi Kazi — marking Salman’s first collaboration with Paidipally, known for Maharshi and Varisu.
