The first trailer for ‘Remain’, a collaboration between M Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks, has officially been released online. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor in lead roles.

Shyamalan and Sparks co-authored the book ‘Remain: A Supernatural Love Story’ in 2025, and are now bringing it to the big screen.

Set to Mitski’s viral song ‘My Love Mine All Mine’, the trailer opens with Gyllenhaal and Dynevor — playing Tate and Wren — in a small house, smiling and playfully interacting, playing board games. The mood then shifts as eerie music takes over and Wren disappears in classic Shyamalan fashion. Wren tells Tate: “You’re worried. You should be.”

“When reclusive architect Tate Gordon moves to a small coastal town to complete his latest project, he encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town.”

Fans praised the unexpected pairing of Shyamalan and Sparks, with one writing: “M Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks is something I would never expect together in anything. What next? Tarantino adapting Jane Austen?” Others highlighted Gyllenhaal’s fit for Shyamalan’s style and praised Dynevor’s casting as a strong choice to showcase her range beyond Bridgerton.

The film is slated to release around Valentine’s Day 2027.
