Don’t Be Shy: Alia Bhatt Film Gets Prime Video Premiere Date

Prime Video has locked September 25 as the worldwide premiere date for Don’t Be Shy, a young-adult romantic comedy produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt through their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the coming-of-age film introduces four newcomers to the screen: Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati. The story follows the quartet as they navigate friendship, young love, heartbreak and the uncertainties that come with growing up. Kunaal Roy Kapur, filmmaker Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik play pivotal supporting parts.
What the makers said
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, called the film one of the platform’s most cherished projects. He singled out the four debutants for the freshness and authenticity they bring, crediting Mukerji’s direction and the creative vision of Alia and Shaheen Bhatt for shaping what he described as a joyful, heartfelt look at friendship, love and the beautifully messy journey of growing up.
The Bhatt sisters echoed the sentiment in a joint statement. The film, they said, captures something honest about being young, from the friendships that shape a person to the first loves that change everything and the heartbreaks that stay. What excites them most, they added, is the young cast, whose energy and chemistry give the story its pulse.
Where and when to watch
Don’t Be Shy will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles. Subscribers in India and across more than 240 countries and territories can watch it from September 25, 2026.
The premiere extends Alia Bhatt’s producing streak of small, character-driven stories that sit apart from typical star vehicles. It also beefs up Prime Video’s Indian originals slate at a crowded point in the festive-season calendar.
For Bajaj, Duggal, Arora and Khati, none of whom carry prior fame, a simultaneous launch across more than two hundred territories is a rare and powerful calling card. If the film finds its audience, the four names attached to it may not stay unfamiliar for long.
