MUMBAI — Ashoke Pandit, Chief Advisor of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has condemned the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff, calling it a direct threat to the safety of the film fraternity and warning that it risks reviving the industry’s darkest era.

The shooting took place on Sunday evening near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu, where motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire. Shroff escaped unhurt, but his driver, Firdaus, sustained a bullet injury to his hand. A bystander was also reportedly injured. Both were hospitalised.

Speaking to ANI, Pandit said the brazen nature of the attack had left the industry shaken. “This incident is deeply concerning, as it involves a direct threat to someone’s life. In broad daylight, in a public space, individuals armed with weapons arrived and opened fire,” he said. “It was fortunate that Tiger Shroff survived, especially given that the shots were fired at such close range.”

“I strongly condemn this attack. An atmosphere of fear has taken hold within our industry; there is no doubt about that,” he added, describing a “fear psychosis” reminiscent of the 1980s and 1990s, when the underworld held sway through threats and intimidation.

Pandit urged the Mumbai Police to act decisively and appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies to treat the matter with urgency. “If the situation spirals out of control, it may become impossible to rein it back in,” he warned. Noting that responsibility had reportedly been claimed for the attack, he said such elements must be “neutralised.”

Chief Minister Fadnavis has described the incident as serious and condemnable, and said police are investigating. The attack has also drawn reactions from other industry figures, with actor Amol Parashar calling it “very scary” and demanding that the culprits be punished.
