Rhiya Ahir is an Indian actress, model and entrepreneur from Mumbai, Maharashtra, who became one of the most searched celebrities in the country in 2026 — not through a blockbuster film, but because of a single, fearless moment on the streets of Mumbai.

In July 2026, a video showed Rhiya standing in front of a police van during a student protest in Mumbai. The van was carrying detained protesters, and Rhiya refused to move for nearly 40 minutes, until the situation was resolved. The clip spread rapidly across social media, turning the then relatively lesser-known actress into a national headline and a symbol of protest for many viewers.

The footage, shared widely on Instagram and X, sparked instant debate among netizens — some praising her courage, others questioning the circumstances — but all of them agreeing that the moment had made the Indian actress impossible to ignore.

Here is the complete Rhiya Ahir biography — covering her early life, career, the viral incident, and her high-profile brush with reality television.

Rhiya Ahir is an Indian actress and model based in Mumbai. Her full name is Rajkumar Rhiya Yadav, and she is also professionally known as Riya Ahir.

Before the viral moment, Rhiya built a career across entertainment — modelling, Hindi theatre, acting, anchoring and music videos — and later founded the luxury handmade clothing brand Rhiyasat. Her screen work includes the web series Crime and Justice, where she played the character Didi, and the music video Dilbara (2025), alongside singer Sumit Patwari. She has also worked as a television host and event anchor, and is an avid dancer.

Rhiya was born on 27 December 1998 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and raised in the city. Her family, however, belongs to Agra in Uttar Pradesh, and the family has a strong defence background — her father served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), while several other members of the extended family served in the armed forces.

Rhiya has often spoken about growing up in a family that valued discipline and social responsibility, and those values later shaped her response during the 2026 protest.

Rhiya’s journey into entertainment began with theatre. She spent nearly 13 years in Hindi theatre, building confidence, stage presence and emotional control.

She later moved into modelling — around six years of experience — and then into acting, hosting and screen projects. Her acting career includes the web series Crime and Justice (2018), where she portrayed Didi, and the music video Dilbara (2025), alongside singer Sumit Patwari. She also runs Rhiyasat, a luxury handmade clothing label focused on Indian craftsmanship.

On 22 July 2026, during protests linked to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak in Mumbai, a police van was seen carrying detained protesters, including women, through Shivaji Park in Dadar.

Rhiya moved towards the van to intervene. When stopped by police, she stood in front of the vehicle and refused to move for about 40 minutes, until the detained protesters were released.

Rhiya later described her reaction as instinctive, saying she tried to pull a woman out of the van before choosing to stay in front of it. The video went viral within hours, and Rhiya Ahir soon became the most recognisable face of the Mumbai student protests. The actress was also later reported to have filed a complaint with the Maharashtra cyber authorities following online harassment and abusive content about her.

In 2026, Rhiya’s fame continued to grow. She was linked with Bigg Boss: Tathas-two, the twentieth season of the Hindi reality show hosted by Salman Khan. Through the “Fans Ka Faisla” audience-voting twist, Rhiya was one of two celebrities — the other being Love Gill — competing for a place in the house.

At the grand premiere on 6 September 2026, Salman Khan announced Love Gill as the audience-selected contestant, and Rhiya Ahir was eliminated from the race.

Rhiya Ahir’s exact net worth has not been publicly disclosed. Her income sources include modelling, acting, music videos, social media collaborations and her fashion brand, Rhiyasat.

Before the viral incident, Rhiya had nearly one lakh Instagram followers. After the protest video spread, her popularity grew significantly, and her subsequent association with Bigg Boss 20 kept her in the public eye.
