‘Param Sundari’ Box-Office Day 1: Sidharth Malhotra-Janhvi Kapoor’s rom-com opens 65% lesser than ‘Saiyaara’

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor meet by chance, share some cute dialogues, and their first collaboration called Param Sundari seems to have the right amount of saccharine simplicity and candy-floss cuteness. But those never-ending references of Shah Rukh Khan that Malhotra mouthed in his last film Yodha make way here too.

The film that released in cinemas on August 29 has collected Rs 7.37 crore. The numbers are healthy but 65% lesser than the blockbuster Saiyaara which minted Rs 21.25 crore on day 1. Sidharth and Janhvi’s film is expected to grow over the weekend.

Shot against the breath-taking backdrop of Kerala, the trailer captures the intoxicating blend of monsoon-drenched roads, backwater bike rides, and the architectural beauty of centuries-old churches – including a heart-stopping sequence that echoes the romance of yore.

Janhvi Kapoor said, “Sundari is deeply personal to me. Her grace, quiet strength, and love for her roots resonate with my own South Indian heritage. Shooting in Kerala, surrounded by such beauty, I felt an emotional connection to her world that I hope the audience will feel too.”

Sidharth Malhotra added, “With Param Sundari, I feel like I’m revisiting the kind of romance I grew up loving, but telling it in a way that feels fresh and relatable. Param has that Delhi boy charm, with a love story that makes you cross worlds. We wanted it to look as beautiful as it feels, and Kerala’s magic really made that happen. I hope the audience feels the same warmth and joy we felt while making it.”

Director Tushar Jalota quoted, “Param Sundari is a celebration of differences – the way two distinct worlds can collide and yet create something beautiful together. Kerala gave us a visual palette that feels timeless, and the story gave us the emotional depth to match it. The trailer is just a glimpse of the journey.”
