Singaporean Maserati Driver Faces Trial in Johor Bahru
Singaporean Maserati Driver : A 27-year-old Singaporean civil servant, Muhammad Irshad Abdul Hameed, pleaded not guilty in Johor Bahru’s Magistrate’s Court to causing the death of motorcyclist A. Vasanthraj, 32, on May 9.
Driving a Maserati, Irshad allegedly made an illegal U-turn on the Second Link Expressway, crashing into a barrier that dislodged and struck Vasanthraj, killing him instantly.
Charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, Irshad faces up to 10 years in prison and a RM50,000 fine. His license was suspended, and monthly check-ins were ordered.
Viral dashcam footage on X showed motorcyclists attacking the car, reflecting public outrage. The case, prosecuted by Amirah Tasnim Saleh, is set for remention on June 17.
