
Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan recently won his maiden National Award for Best Actor for his blockbuster Jawan, directed by Atlee. The recognition, coming more than 30 years into his career, has set off celebrations not just in the industry but across the globe among his legion of fans.On Saturday, SRK decided to interact with his admirers through a surprise AMA on Twitter. Fans poured in congratulatory messages, and one curious follower asked him the golden question: “How do you feel after winning the National Award? National Award ya janta ka pyaar?”In his signature style, the superstar quipped, “YAY!!!!! I feel like the King of the Nation!!! Too much honour and too much responsibility to try and excel and work harder!!”‘Overwhelmed with gratitude’Though Jawan brought him the big win, Shah Rukh shared the Best Actor honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail. Post the announcement, SRK appeared before fans in a laid-back look, beanie, T-shirt, denim, and a sling on his arm owing to an injury, and delivered a moving speech.“I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. Receiving a National Award is an honour I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you to the jury, the chairman, the I&B ministry, and everyone who thought I deserved this recognition,” he said.
SRK also acknowledged the people who made the win possible. “I’d like to thank all of my directors and writers, particularly for 2023 — Raju sir, Sid, and most importantly Atlee sir and his team for believing in me with Jawan. And, of course, my family — Gauri, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.”For him, the National Award is more than a trophy. “It’s a reminder that my efforts are worth it. It pushes me to keep going, learning, creating, and serving cinema. In a world full of noise, being truly heard is a gift.”On the work front, Shah Rukh will be seen in King, which also stars his daughter Suhana Khan.
