Winter School Holiday: Schools to Remain Closed for 12 Days Due to Cold Weather
December 15, 2025:
With cold wave conditions tightening their grip across North India, several regions — including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and most parts of Uttar Pradesh — are witnessing a sharp drop in temperatures.
Amid these chilly conditions, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a 12-day winter break for all schools, bringing much-needed respite to students and parents.According to the official notification, schools across the state will remain closed from December 20 to December 31, 2025, as part of the winter vacation schedule.
In addition to these holidays, students will also enjoy regular Sunday breaks on December 7, 14, 21, and 28, along with the Christmas holiday on December 25.While many institutions are currently conducting pre-board and half-yearly examinations, the decision to declare an extended winter break is expected to provide students with ample time to rest and prepare for upcoming academic sessions.
District authorities have been instructed to closely monitor weather developments. After December 31, the respective district magistrates may decide on any extension of the holidays based on prevailing cold and fog conditions. Schools will notify parents of any further updates through official communication channels.
